Warren Design
A project with Event Communications
In 2014 The National Army Museum undertook a major refurbishment both to the architectural layout of the building and also the exhibition displays. This involved a change from the traditional chronological story of the British Army to a thematic approach with new galleries exploring the subjects of Battle, Army, Society and Soldier.
Daniel was lead designer for the Soldier Gallery during the Scheme and Detail Design phases of the project. Using different soldiers experiences from the English Revolution through to the present day, the gallery tells the story of a typical soldier’s journey from enlisting through training, day to day life, battle and demobilisation. An innovative graphic display system was developed integrated with object rich showcase displays and interactive exhibits. The peak of the visitor journey is an immersive experience made up of 270 degrees of battle images projected onto fragmented walls and an audio soundscape of personal testimony bringing the visceral fear and exhilaration of combat to life.
